Info
Capital City ? YEAH!, that's right, they are a three piece rocknroll group from Western Australia, originally founded under the somewhat dubious moniker, The Twats. After about a year of being generally despised by the gig- going public (apart from a few loyal drunks) the lads decided to change their name to Capital City in an effort to deceive and annoy people. However, something went horribly wrong and people started likin' em. The result was countless gigs with bands as disparate as Jebediah, Mach Pelican, Magic Dirt, The Meanies, Sixfthick and You Am I, plus US champs Boss Hog and The Strokes. Unburdened by talent, Tim Hamzah(drums/back-up vocals), Chris Pierucci (bass/hair) and Sam Scherr (guitar/vocals/electric leg) play a grainy, gritty blend of Punk Rock and Rhythm and Blues which is as infectious as the Bubonic Plague.

Biography

CAPITAL CITY - consisting of founding members Sam Scherr and Chris Pierucci along with recent inductees Jake Snell and Kate Mills - are Western Australia's favourite exponents of punk-rock rhythm and blues.

For those who came in late to the whole Capital City story, this Australian band fronted by a diminutive Israeli-born, Washington-raised Western Australian ball of energy, started in Perth in 2000. Their first EP "The God-Botherin' Yearsâ, recorded by Dr Alien Smith at Bergerk Studios in 2002, received great support from public radio and demon sales from the public. This release saw them win the WAMi award for Most Popular WA Punk Act and tour nationally with Aussie garage rock legends The Stems on their re-union tour at the start of 2003. The second EP, "Capital City vs The Bangkok Lady Boys", also a Bergerk! product, was another collection of tracks celebrating love, life, hate, death and Thai dudes who decide to the contrary. People reacted well to the new release, with Triple J adding lead track "The Working Class Is After Usâ to high rotation. Along the ride the band has supported the likes of Boss Hog, The Datsuns, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Buzzcocks, McLusky, Sons & Daughters and The Strokes plus ace Australian acts such as Beasts of Bourbon, Jet, The Drones, Spencer P Jones, Magic Dirt, Dallas Crane, The Meanies, Rocket Science, Sixfthick, The Tremors, Ground Components & You Am I.
